The origami paintings continue my interest in the relationship of paper and paint - the humor of painting an object made of paper, and also of creating multiples (similar paintings, most the same size) that are executed in the non-multiple format of small panel paintings. This series was inspired by my students at the University of Wisconsin. In the color theory courses I teach, my students create such lush, dense little paintings that I was motivated to create formal experimentations with color as well.
