"Mother Fools: 24 Paintings In 24 Hours" celebrates National TV Turn Off Week, an event which encourages us to re-discover social entertainment not involving the television. Mother Fools, a Madison, WI coffee house/music venue/art gallery celebrates this event by keeping its doors open all day and all night for the duration of Turn Off Week.

I'm happy to support the best coffee house in Madison, its fabulously ecclectic patrons (including myself), and of course, TV Turn Off Week. So, for one 24 hour period of time during the week, I'll paint a portraits of any cafe patron who agrees to sit for one: the portraits take about an hour each to paint. They are hung on the wall in a grid as I paint, and the whole performance is time-lapse video taped.

The portraits currently displayed on this site chronicle TV Turn Off Week 2004, and the project's Second Annual incarnation will begin at 10 pm on April 25th, 2005. Sign up sheets will be available at Mother Fools shortly if you are interested in participating.
